Bouncing Back from Stress

Whenever we experience a big change in one area of our lives, it can be stressful to all the other aspects, including your diet. At American Weight Loss Centers, we understand that it’s easy for the trials and tribulations of life to throw your easy weight loss program completely off track. However, with some forethought and planning, you can avoid the pitfalls that life’s challenges can pose for your diet or any of the quick weight loss programs offered at our weight loss clinics.
If you get laid off from your job, lose a major client, move residences or lose a friend or family member, it’s understandable that such incredible stress can make you reach for comfort food or overeat. Keep in mind that when major life changes hit you out of the blue, the stress is only going to be compounded by overeating and consuming unhealthy foods. Instead of eating more to fill whatever void you’re experiencing, stop and breathe. Think about ways to relax and ease whatever transition you’re going through. Even if you are you using weight loss products or FDA approved medical weight loss pills, take some steps to take care of yourself and not let your appetite get out of control. Our medical weight loss clinics offer some great recommendations for keeping your cool.
Find Support
Determine who gives you great support and stay close with them. Whether it’s family, friends, an exercise buddy or a mentor, reach out when you need some words to keep you on track. Just expressing your emotions in general will help ease some of your stress. Visit one of our Orange County weight loss centers or Pasadena weight loss clinic to talk with the staff about other ways to ease stress.
Be Flexible
Sometimes even easy weight loss programs can be too much for us to focus on. If you have too much else going on and weight loss cannot be your focus for awhile, it’s okay to modify your goal to simply be maintaining you current weight instead of losing. This keeps you in a realistic place and doesn’t set you up for failure if you’re still trying to reach an aggressive weight loss goal.
Keep Moving
One of the best de-stressors and a fundamental element of all quick weight loss programs is exercise. Whatever you do, maintain your workouts—this will help you maintain balance and alleviate stress. Physical activity will only improve your overall wellness, as well as your mental and physical health, during times of stress. Even just getting outdoors for a walk or bike ride will do wonders for your state of mind.
Keep An Arsenal Of Healthy Snacks
Load your kitchen and desk up with healthy snacks and weight loss products. Sugar is absolutely not the answer—it will only make you feel worse when the sugar rush wears off and throw off quick weight loss programs. Eating antioxidant packed fruits, veggies and nuts will actually help your body cope with stress.
Meditate
Take 5, 10 or 15 minutes out of your day to simply breathe and be. Learning how to control your breathing through meditation is a great way to cope and the time out will benefit your blood pressure, cardiovascular system and every other aspect of your life.
